One of
the Paris's south entrances. Here starts the highway (A6) to
south of France. You'll also find many buses to ride in
Paris : The "PC" which is riding all around the city, and
the 28, 38, 68 riding downtown. Also many buses to the
southern suburbs.

(route of the 38), avenue du Maine
(leading to Montparnasse)
and rue d'Alésia (east to west
Paris). Because of that, it is known as one of the busiest
place in the city, to avoid at peek traffic time!...

The
boulevard is one of the main streets in the 14th district of
Paris. You'll find many shops there, and if you search a
little more, some very typical parisian streets in the
district. Many famous artists use(d) to live here.

Rochereau

Another
main crossroads with the big statue of the Lion of Belfort
in the middle. Visit the catacombes. A long walk in
the underground graves of the ancient Paris... (you better
wear dirty shoes!...) If you like bones and darkness
;-)
It's at
this stop you'll also find the connection with the
'OrlyBus' (bus to
Orly Airport in 25mn) and the
RER train 'B' to
Charles-de-Gaulle Roissy
Airport (25mn).
There,
you can also rent
bike for a ride in the city...

Port
Royal
|
The
'chic' restaurant
La Closerie des Lilas stands at the
corner of the boulevards. Famous people like Verlaine, Lenine,
Trotsky or Hemingway used to go
there... Nowadays, actresses and singers still go there for
a lunch or drink.
The
fountain of the observatory (Davioud, 1875)
stands in the Jardins de l'observatoire at south of the
Luxembourg gardens. A statue from
Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, the four parts of
the world, overhangs it.
Give
also a look to the Observatory of Paris.

Val de
Grâce
|
A major
military hospital, and a beautiful
church.
Also
"Military museum of health", or also called "Musée du
Val-de-Grace", located in a part of an ancient covent
transformed in an hospital. Created during World War One, it
shows the history of military medecin.

The bus
stops in front of the Student
Hostel. Also very close to the observatory
gardens.

Luxembourg
|
The
beautiful gardens of the 'Luxembourg' at a stone throw
from Saint
Germain-des-prés... and five
minutes walking from the Pantheon
(picture) by the rue
Soufflot... and the small and sloppy streets very
typical of the district.
You'll
also find a couple of internet-cafés in front of our
bus-stop... if you really miss the 38's site ;-)

Les
écoles
|
Stop for
the Musée de Cluny, a wonderful
building from the end of XVth century surrounded with old
roman therms at the border of Boulevard Saint-Michel and
Boulevard Saint-Germain, this museum shows one of the
greatest Middle-age collection in the world.
Here you
are in the Latin Quarter. Many shops and cafés with
famous terraces... close to the Sorbonne
University...

Saint
Michel
|
Place
Saint-Michel is a famous meeting point, just beside the
river. Many people hanging around or playing music. The
Boulevard Saint-Michel is also famous
for it's many clothes shops and book stores. Very lively and
crowdy.
If you
like Greek restaurants, pubs and bars, it is also the place!
...Walk the many small streets of the area around
Church Saint-Séverin.

Cité -
Palais de Justice
|
Visit
the Sainte Chapelle, famous for it's
stained glass window's beauty, the
Conciergerie, old prison during the revolution period
and the flower market (bird market on
sundays!), one of the last of Paris and very typical.
Also
very close to Notre Dame and the other
island : l'île Saint-Louis.
On the
other side of the isle, at it's end, walk around the
Pointe du Vert-Galant and take a ride
on the Bateaux-mouches (Flee-boats)
across the city on river Seine...

Hotel de
Ville
|
Between
the river and Rivoli street, with it's many shops and
cafés. The place in front of the City Hall is a very
large one. Some attractions stands here at different period
of the year (free ice skating ring in winter, large
video-screens for the main football games, exhibitions,
concerts...).

Chatelet
|
This is
the half-way
terminal for the line, at rue de
Victoria. Only one bus on every two are going to Gare
du Nord... (watch it!)
The
Tour Saint-Jacques, big gothic
tower build in 1523, stands in the middle of a nice little
garden beside our stop.
On the
quais bording the river, you'll also find these very typical
bouquinistes selling some old
(ageless) books...

Les
Halles
|
The
Forum des Halles is a huge commercial center
(mall) with over 260 shops and many restaurants all around.
Nice gardens too and streets to discover beside the
Fontaine des Innocents.
Bicycles to hire at the
'Roue Libre' RATP, just beside the
Forum.
The
Centre Georges Pompidou, open in 1977,
shows the creative activities during the 20th century :
arts, photography, cinema, new technologies. The National
Museum of Modern Art shows a large
range of contemporary arts, from 1905 until today, through
1400 works. Modern art, architecture and design are melting
here. Also a huge Public Library, present time's
encyclopedia (350 000 printed documents in free access, 3500
spoken documents, 2400 revues, 10 000 CDs, 2200 movies...)
propose 2000 reading seats and multimedia spots.

At the
n° 20 of the rue Etienne Marcel is the
Jean Sans Peur Tower (vestige of the
hôtel des ducs de
Bourgogne).

Crossroad of the Sebastopol Boulevard and
Réaumur street. Close to the "gay" district called
"le Marais" and it's many restaurants and clubs.

Strasbourg Saint
Denis

Nice
arch called Porte Saint-Martin, close to
another arch called Porte
Saint-Denis. These are the Grands
boulevards.
You will
also find several interesting "passages" (small covered
streets) between Boulevard de Strasbourg and the streets
"rue du faubourg St-Denis" and
"rue du faubourg St-Martin". You should
have a look at them.

District Hall. Exotic side of
the Boulevard, where you'll find many afro-hairdressers, and
some night-clubs or clubs for live music, but the area is
not too good at night-time...
Very
close to the rue de Paradis and it's
Baccarat Museum or
Crystal Museum that shows over
1200 very nice items created for Imperial or Royal court of
Europe.
On the
Boulevard de Strasbourg, 14, stands the
Theater Antoine, built in 1866.

Gare de
l'est
|
Eastern Railway station, main departure
for the east of France, or other countries like Germany,
Switzerland... Also a huge but very nice building (go
inside!).

Lafayette-Dunkerke
|
You have
here many hostels, restaurants and bars facing the Gare du
Nord.

Gare du

Terminal
of our line at the North Railway
station.
From
this train station you can reach London (in 3 hours with the
Eurostar high-speed
train!) or other cities of northern France, Belgium,
Netherlands... Another huge station.
